In the 90s, Bollywood was heavily influenced by the underworld, which had control over various aspects of the industry, from film production to earnings, and even the personal lives of its stars. The underworld played a role in boosting some careers while ruining others. Many heroines caught the attention of mafia dons, and affairs between actresses and underworld figures became common. Some actresses were seen with these dons both abroad and within the country. Among all the underworld figures, the most talked-about affairs were of Dawood Ibrahim. His relationships with not one, but three prominent actresses, remained a constant topic in the headlines.
Dawood Ibrahim’s connection with Bollywood and his fondness for its actresses were never a secret. He openly flirted and one of the actresses who caught his attention was Mandakini, who starred in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Mandakini was also in love with him, and the two shared a passionate relationship. They were frequently seen together, and even today, their pictures occasionally go viral. Mandakini was spotted with Dawood on several occasions, including at the racecourse. However, their closeness eventually faded, bringing their relationship to an end.
After Mandakini and Dawood’s relationship came to an end, the actress left her flourishing career and disappeared from Bollywood. Years later, it was revealed that she had married a Lama doctor from Nepal and is now living a happy life with her family.
Anita Ayoob, who came to Bollywood from Pakistan, was establishing herself as a leading actress after appearing in a few films. Her relationship with Dawood blossomed, and their affair became public when producer Javed Siddiqui was shot dead. Dawood reportedly took responsibility for the murder, with rumours suggesting he killed Siddiqui because he refused to cast Anita in his film.
There were accusations that she was spying for India, which led to her return to Pakistan. In the same year 1995, Ayoob married Saumil Patel, an Indian Gujarati businessman. After her marriage, she moved to New York. She has a son named Shazer with Saumil Patel. After her divorce with Patel, she married Subak Majeed, a Pakistani businessman.
