De De Pyaar De 2 Box Office Collection Day 2: Ajay Devgn–Rakul Preet Singh film see big jump on first weekend, nears Rs...

The screens lit up again this week with the return of Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh in the sequel to one of Bollywood’s most loved romantic comedies. De De Pyaar De 2, which arrived in cinemas on 14 November 2025, began its journey with a steady but unspectacular start, earning a little over Rs 8 crore on day 1. But if Saturday’s numbers are an indication, the film is clearly finding its feet as more viewers step in over the weekend.

The sequel brings back the familiar mix of romance, humour, age-gap tension, and family chaos—elements that made the first film click with audiences. With R Madhavan joining the cast this time, the dynamic is even more refreshing, and cinegoers seem to be warming up to it.

Early estimates from Sacnilk report that the film collected Rs 12.25 crore on Saturday. This takes the two-day domestic total to Rs 21 crore, a healthy jump that suggests stronger word-of-mouth compared to its Friday opening.

The report also stated that the Hindi version recorded 20.53% occupancy on Saturday, showing a noticeable rise as the weekend crowd began filling the theatres. For a sequel releasing amid multiple new titles, this upward trend is seen as a positive sign.

About De De Pyaar De 2

Directed by Anshul Sharma and written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, De De Pyaar De 2 picks up the story from where the first film left off, but adds new complications and characters.

Ajay Devgn returns as Ashish, a 52-year-old NRI investor based in London. Rakul Preet Singh is back as Ayesha, the 28-year-old he is in love with. The sequel follows Ashish as he prepares to meet Ayesha’s family, a setup that naturally brings in awkward, humorous, and emotionally charged moments.

R Madhavan plays Rajji, a new character who adds a lively spark to the narrative. The tension and playful banter between Ashish and Rajji are among the film’s highlights and bring a fresh layer of humour without losing the tone of the original. The ensemble cast also includes Gautami Kapoor, Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezaan Jafri, Ishita Dutta, and Janki Bodiwala.

What did R Madhavan say about working with Ajay Devgn?

R Madhavan, who has had a busy year with multiple big releases, opened up about his experience working alongside Ajay Devgn. He described the collaboration as motivating and deeply rewarding.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Madhavan said, “On set, like Ajay sir, I don’t compete. The whole idea is to do the best we can for the sake of the character and the film. I’ve learnt from Ajay sir that when the story works, the film works, everything works for everybody. But if I am only worried about what I am doing, and getting insecure about it, then it’s the wrong approach towards a film.”

His comments reflect the camaraderie seen on-screen and the shared creative approach behind the scenes.

Highlights:

  1. Film jumps from Rs 8 crore on Day 1 to Rs 12.25 crore on Day 2
  2. Weekend footfall rises with 20.53% Hindi occupancy on Saturday
  3. Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet, and R Madhavan’s dynamic drives the sequel’s appeal
