Dear Zindagi quick movie review: Alia Bhatt gives an honest-to-the-bone performance while Shah Rukh Khan is impressive in his extended cameo!
Here's a quick take on Alia Bhatt & Shah Rukh Khan's film Dear Zindagi.
‘Dear Zindagi’ starring Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan, Ira Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Ali Zafar, Angad Bedi and Aditya Roy Kapur has finally hit the silver screens today (November 25). This is one of the most awaited films because the movie is directed by the popular director Gauri Shinde who earlier gave us all the hit film ‘English Vinglish’. Not just that, thanks to the fantastic star cast which makes each one of us curious to watch the film. From the series of teasers, it was understood that ‘Dear Zindagi’ is not like the typical Bollywood film. So to know what it is all about, read the review shared by Preeti Kulkarni below.
Alia Bhatt has truly arrived with Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi. She is raw and honest-to-the-bone in her portrayal of Kaira, a young cinematographer. Just as the movie rolls, the protagonist meanders from one relationship to another, listlessly and at times very unselfconsciously. She is your 20 something super ambitious girl but is also super confused and damn emotional at the same time. And like all emotional people, she hurts easy.
Alia’s Kaira is very endearing and so, so relatable! There is no effort to ‘act’ the role from Alia’s side. The way she opens a brand new book in gusto and smells the fresh scent of paper or plugs in on headphones to drown herself in loud music in crowd..all of this is so US. All of us have done this! Haven’t we? This is an out and out Alia Bhatt movie and it is refreshing to watch a female oriented movie which has a male superstar in an extended cameo. Bollywood, has come a long way.
