Deepika Padukone is a happy woman right now. Her film Padmaavat has become a blockbuster and her look in magnum opus, along with her performance is being appreciated by critics and fans alike in both India and abroad. This was long pending. She maintained a low profile and was sparingly active on social media. But the actress was away from home and the continuous threats to her life could have been worrisome for her parents one would think. When asked about this in a recent interview, Deepika revealed that her parents stayed calm throughout the Padmaavat row since they knew their girl is capable of taking care of herself. She cited an incident from back in the day which made her parents believe that their girl was a bold and strong person and will do just fine when it comes to defending herself. “I was 14 or 15. I remember one evening my family and I were walking down the street. We had probably finished eating at a restaurant. My sister and my father walked ahead and my mother and I were walking behind. And this man brushed past me. I could have, at that point, ignored, pretended like it didn’t happen. I turned back, followed this person, caught him by the collar in the middle of the street, slapped him and walked away,” revealed Deepika in an interview to India Today. She said that since day her parents have had the faith and belief in her to be able to take care of herself. We are sure that moment would have made the Padukones very proud as is the release and wide positive reception of their daughter’s labour of love Padmaavat. As of now, the film has crossed Rs 150 crore in less than a week of being released. This number includes the earnings from limited previews from Wednesday. The film officially released on January 25, 2018.
