Yes. ‘Can you stop staring at me, please?’ This is what the Whistling Woods International film on women’s empowerment seems to be screaming at to the men who do so.
The ad film shows various situations in which a woman is ogled at on a daily basis – on a bike or in a local train. We love the way the video emphasises that no matter what a girl is wearing, shorts or a burkha, she is gawked at. It ends with the women showing a mirror to these men whose embarrassed faces flash on it.
Dekh Le is made by Whistling Woods’ alumnus Ketan Rana who runs Postman Piktures now. But what is commendable is, the institute and Ketan managed to get together a team like cinematographer Kiran Deohans (for guidance) and celeb stylist Neeta Lulla for the project.
Bollywood music director Ram Sampath, composer of soul-searching melodies of Aamir Khan’s chat show Satyamev Jayate, has scored Dekh Le’s title track. Singer Sona Mahapatra, who is also Ram’s wife, makes the song very effective in her voice.
And the actors have all done a convincing job.
