Ever since Karan Johar announced that he would be adapting Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat in Hindi, audiences have been waiting for the film. To say that our hopes were high to witness Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter step into the shoes of Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, won’t be wrong. The film’s trailer, that released a few weeks ago, received mixed reactions from critics and audience alike.
Today, the makers unveiled the Hindi version of the most popular Marathi song Zingaat. Twitterati have been going berserk over it, having both good and bad things to say about the same. While one user said, “New version of zingaat is good but no one can beat original version of zingaat its still in mind like I remember whole song but new one lacks bit in lyrics and also like old one makes you groove with madness I didn’t feel new version had that madness”, the other one said, “#Zingaat is the one of main reason Sairat being  such a monstrous hit. Karan Johar knows how to make film work. Chartbuster yet again.”

KJo was keen on roping in lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya to pen the lyrics of the Hindi version. The lyricist has time and again mentioned how challenging the experience was. During a media interaction, he said, “The Marathi song was released in the recent past and is still fresh in the minds of people. It has also achieved cult status. There was no point replacing the word Zingaat, so I retained the word and rewrote the rest of the song in Hindi. I made sure that the fun element was intact. I hope people give this version as much love as the Marathi one.”
