National Film Award-winning Indian actor Dhanush is all set to enter Hollywood and will star with none other than the enigmatic Uma Thurman! Dhanush, who made a mark in Bollywood with Raanjhana opposite Sonam Kapoor, will be acting with Uma Thurman and Alexandra Daddario in his Hollywood debut. He joins the new list of Indian actors who are making a mark in Hollywood and other international movies and television series, including Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Nimrat Kaur, Ali Fazal, Mallika Sherawat and Sonu Sood. Many other Indian actors have been seen in international cinema, TV and theatre earlier, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Amrish Puri, Shashi Kapoor, Persis Khambatta, Gulshan Grover, Irrfan Khan, Gaurav Chopra, and many more. The South Indian actor, who primarily acts in Tamil cinema and has received several awards for his work, will act with the Kill Bill actress in the comic film that will see him playing Aja, a “funny, sensitive and witty” Indian magician who is sent to Paris on a secret mission by his mother. TOI further reports that the shooting of The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Cupboard will be held in India, France, Italy and Morocco. The film is being produced by Indian Aditi Anand.

Satrapi said Dhanush was the most obvious choice for the role of an Indian magician with a sense of humour. She said, “As I was watching various Indian movies, Dhanush became the most obvious choice — his intelligence, his killer smile, his ability to enter fully into the skin of any character he played…made me confident that he was the one.”
