Allu Arjun’s highly awaited film Pushpa 2 has finally hit the big screens. The movie made an impressive collection of Rs 175 crore on its Day 1. Even before the film was released, fans speculated that the movie would earn in crores on its opening day. However, did you know that there is another South film that created a massive stir in the industry, and its Day 1 numbers were humongous?
The movie we are talking about is Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2. Released in April 2022, KGF 2 created a stir at the box office. The movie already had a massive hype, and it also proved its mettle. According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, KGF 2’s Day 1 box office collection was Rs 135 crore. KGF 2 was a pan-India release. The movie was released in 5 languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu.
KGF was made for Rs 100 crore and on the first day of its release, the movie did exceptionally well and made Rs 135 crore. On the other hand, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 was made under a budget between Rs 400 to 600 crore and the opening day numbers of the film were Rs 175 crore. Hence, in a way, KGF 2 broke the Pushpa 2 record.
Coming to KGF 2 day 1 collection overseas, then the film earned Rs 24.50 crore. The movie featured some of the leading actors in the industry including Yash, Raveena Tandon and Sanjay Dutt. As per the report by industry tracker Sacnilk, the KGF 2 overall collection in India was Rs 1000.85 crore. On the other hand, the movie minted Rs 1215 crore worldwide. KGF became the fourth highest-grossing film in India. However, later Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawaan’ broke its record.
Talking about Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil’s Pushpa 2, then even its numbers are quite impressive. Allu Arjun’s much-awaited sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule has made a spectacular debut at the Indian box office, setting a new record as the biggest opener in Indian cinema history.
The action-packed film, directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, grossed an impressive Rs 175.1 crore nett on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. With this phenomenal collection, Pushpa 2 has surpassed the previous Day 1 record of Rs 133 crore held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR by a significant margin.
