Nakuul Mehta is the newest heartthrob of the small screen all thanks to his show Ishqbaaz. This is probably the first show of the small screen to have a spin-off series, Dil Bole Oberoi. Ishqbaaz mainly revolved around three brothers and this new spin off version will focus on Omkara (Kunal Jaisingh) and Rudra (Leenesh Mattoo) and their love stories. Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta) will take a back track in this new telly show and let his little brothers enjoy the limelight. Meanwhile Shivaay and Anika (Surbhi Chandna) will continue to entertain viewers with their crackling chemistry in Ishqbaaz.

The show’s lead actor, Nakuul Mehta, got into a candid discussion with Times of India and spoke about the changing dynamics of the telly show and his journey in the small screen industry. He was first asked whether Dil Bole Oberoi, brings pressure on his since Leenesh and Kunal have moved out of Ishqbaaz. The actor without any thought said, “I believe these are exciting times as the show has really grown and we have an offshoot now. Surbhi Chandra and I will continue to headline Ishqbaaz and the pressure remains the same as before.”

When asked if this spin-off stands as a risk to Ishqbaaz since the brothers have left too, he says, “I think the show has been appreciated and so, the channel has launched an offshoot. I am an optimist and feel that if they manage to make another good show, there is no reason it will not succeed.” (ALSO READ: Ishqbaaz new twist: Anika teams up with Dushyant to create hurdles in Tia-Shivaay’s wedding!)

Nakuul after having a brief career in modelling decided to try his hands in acting. His debut Bollywood film Haal E Dil failed to give him the much needed recognition. Nakuul continued being a part of TV commercials, music videos, theater until he bagged his TV shows. His first telly show was Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and he got him recognition in the television industry. When Nakuul was asked if he wanted to move back to films now that he is popular, he said, “I am a leading star on Indian TV and I take that position of privilege with a lot of responsibility.Hard work has got me here and I’m fully committed to television.” ALSO READ: Ishqbaaz to have a new spin-off – Dil Bole Oberoi; Omkara to find love in new season of Star Plus show!)

Nakuul seems to be irked with the question and later added, “TV stars are often asked about not making it in movies, but we don’t question a movie star about not succeeding on TV . It is not easy to get a show in the prime time slot. And how many Bollywood actors fare well in fiction shows? My point is, we should not look down on TV as a medium because its reach is far more than a film’s. Having said that, if there is a good subject, I will surely do a film.” (ALSO READ: Star Plus’s Dil Bole Oberoi first episode: Here’s why you should watch this Ishqbaaz spin off starring Kunal Jaisingh and Rahul Dev)
