Filmmaker Karan Johar has turned a day older today! Over the years, the 45-year-old filmmaker has played several roles and enthralled us. Earlier this year he launched his autobiography An Unsuitable Boy and he yet again made some revelations that made some really shocking, interesting and juicy reading material! The filmmaker had bared it all in the book, inviting us into his life. While we learnt about his changed personal equations with some of his closest friends, one celeb who has been his go-to person since many years now is Shah Rukh Khan.
In fact during the autobiography launch, which was unveiled by KJo’s dear friend Shah Rukh, the filmmaker spoke about the moment he fell in love with the superstar. Taking us back to the day, KJo said that he along with his father Yash Johar had gone to meet Shah Rukh Khan to discuss a film. Karan was taken aback with the kind of love and respect that the star showed towards Sr. Johar.
Karan further said that till then, he didn’t use to think much of his father’s body of work. But to see a star like Shah Rukh show reverence towards his father made him fall in love with the Raees star. However, not many know that much before this love blossomed between Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan; the filmmaker had dubbed SRK as a complete loser! “While I was waiting for Anand Mahendroo to come and meet me, I spotted this guy, sitting right there and sipping one cup of tea after the other. He had already been there when I walked in! Finally when Anandji came out to meet me, he was taken aback to find this person sitting there waiting for him. When he asked how come he was there, this chap replied, ’I wanted to tell you that I won’t be able to be part of your serial since I now want to do films.’ Anandji was confused and asked if he had waited all this long at the office just to tell him that. “This guy, with his straight face on, said, ‘Yes. I really liked the tea here so I didn’t mind waiting. After he left, Anand Mahendroo told me yeh Shah Rukh Khan hai. Iska kuch nahi ho sakta! Even I thought what a loser he is to be sitting there having chai-pe-chai and whiling away his time,” revealed Karan Johar on the show about his first meeting and impression of Shah Rukh Khan who later went on to rule Bollywood and decades later, is still the Badshah!
