Dilip Kumar has been admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai yesterday following an uneasiness and breathlessness due to a chest infection. Lately, actor and former FTII chairman Gajendra Chouhan spoke to a leading daily about the veteran actor and said, “Dilip Sahab is a very respected member of Cine Artist Welfare Trust. We always pray that Dilip Ji lives longer. He is a gem of a person and such people are born just once in a lifetime. Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification Prasoon Joshi also spoke about Dilip Kumar and said, “What can I say about Dilip Ji? I have written a poem for him when the book was launched on him. If you will read that book, you will find my thoughts on him. I have had a long conversation with Saira ji to understand him before I wrote the poem. The biggest thing about him is that he wanted victory without the loss of anyone which is a beautiful thing. Dilip is one of the most respected and talented actors of the Hindi cinema. He has delivered spectacular performances in movies like Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-E-Azam (1960), Ram Aur Shyam (1967), Gunga Jamuna (1961) and Devdas (1955). The veteran actor received Padma Bhushan in 1991. He was also honoured with Padma Vibhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Pakistan’s Nishan-e-Imtiaz Award. Earlier, he got hospitalised due to the kidney infection. Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan visited him and also prayed for his speedy recovery.
