Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar, who turns 96 today, celebrates his special day with his close friends and family members and wife Saira Banu. During a recent media interaction with IANS, Dilip Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqui said that Mr Kumar has not celebrated his birthday in a long time. He also revealed that Saira Banu (Dilip Kumar’s wife) will host a small get together at her residence, which will be attended by the actor’s brother and sisters. Faisal Farooqui told IANS: “He (Dilip Kumar) has not done that in a very long time and birthdays are occasions where the family gets together and some close friends get together. It seems like Dilip Kumar is not a fan of birthday parties. Faisal continues, “Even when Saab was active socially and personally, he was not fond of big celebrations. In September and October, he was admitted to a hospital for recurrent pneumonia. But he is now at home and recovering. He has not fully recovered but he is making great progress.
From the film fraternity, Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to wish the legend. He wrote, “The ultimate master of his craft… Dilip Kumar – Mohammed Yusuf Khan… turns 96… prayers and duas for his good health and happiness always. The history of Indian Cinema shall always be written as ‘before Dilip Kumar and after Dilip Kumar.”

Dilip Kumar is best-known for his performances in films such as Jugnu, Andaz, Mughal-e-Azam, Naya Daur and Ram Aur Shyam among others. He was last seen in the 1998 film in Qila.
