One of the most adorable couples from the Telly land, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, who shot to fame with characters Simar and Prem respectively in one of the longest-running and much-celebrated Star Plus’ shows Sasural Simar Ka, are all set to exchange wedding vows today at around 2-3 pm, following the Muslim traditions. The actors, who first met on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka seven years back, will tie the knot in a private wedding ceremony amidst family and close friends in Shoaib’s hometown.
The couple were originally planning a lavish wedding sometime later this year in Jaipur. A source, in a statement to Times Of India, said, “The couple were originally planning a lavish wedding sometime later this year in Jaipur. However, their families wanted to advance the plan and a date was finalised upon just 20 days ago. The families also decided to solemnise the nikah in the same house where Shoaib’s parents got married decades ago. Shoaib is returning to his hometown after almost 10 years and his relatives are excited to have him and Dipika with them.”
A source close to the actors had revealed to indianexpress.com, “Shoaib and Dipika, both wanted a very personalised affair. Being quite private people, they chose to have the ceremonies in Bhopal to avoid the constant media attention. Also, with Shoaib’s family residing there, it helped them in organising a grand yet a close-knit wedding. Shoaib Ibrahim and Dipika Kakar’s wedding festivities started off in full filmy style. It began with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge style pre-wedding photoshoot, where they recreated Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s DDLJ iconic moment as they travel to their wedding destination, followed by fun-filled haldi and kalire ceremony and then a colourful mehendi ceremony. Dipika and Shoaib were caught in a cute moment during their wedding festivities.
The Guest List
The couple will host a reception at Juhu’s Sea Princess Hotel, in Mumbai, on February 26. While the Nikah will be attended by Dipika’s close friends namely Kajol Shrivastava, Jyotsna Chandola, (who are like her sisters) and Falaq Naaz, the reception will see the entire Sasural Simar Ka cast, Surbhi Jyoti and few other friends from the television industry. The wedding invitation was designed by Puneet Gupta invitations, who had also designed Bharti Singh’s wedding card.
Outfit
Dipika, who has her own label, Sitara’s Elegance (the fashion line has been named after her to-be mother-in-law as she is her inspiration behind her clothing line), wore some of her designs in the day. The actress is likely to wear a deep rose red gown with a lot of lace, an outfit from Kalki Fashion for her reception, there is not much idea about Shoaib’s outfit.
Venue
We already know that the couple will have a destination wedding. Dipika and Shoaib, who wanted a very personalised affair, have decided to get hitched in the presence of their family members and close relatives. Shoaib’s family lives in Bhopal but the couple is marrying at Shoaib’s home in Maudaha, which is their ancestral home, This place is 100 kms from Lucknow and the locale has definitely given the couple some privacy from the constant media glare. The wedding planners have decked up the venue in different themes for the functions; the planning was done by his relatives and Shoaib’s sister, Saba.
The TV actress had a troubled married life in the past. Now, (after she divorced her ex-husband Raunak Mehta) Dipika is in a happy space as she found again found love in (her longtime beau) Shoaib Ibrahim. But the couple had a few issues in their marriage and the major hindrance in their lives was that the two belong to different religions but fortunately their strong friendship and love towards each other defy all such problems.
