The case goes back to a shooting incident on September 12, when gunshots were fired at Disha Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area around 3:45 am, shocking the quiet neighbourhood. At the time, her family was inside the house, including her father Jagdish Singh Patani, a retired DSP, her mother, and her elder sister Khushbu Patani.
