Mumbai: Producer and director, Ekta Kapoor recently revealed that after releasing her upcoming film Love Sex Aur Dhoka 2, she will prefer hiding from the public. In a recent conversation, Ekta Kapoor compared her upcoming film with Thank You For Coming, where the filmmaker dealt with numerous spam that was sent on her social media account that fociussed on hatred of the film. During a conversation with media agency Variety, Ekta said, “Thank You for Coming has left a very strange pain in my heart because of the kind of reception it got in India, vis-a-vis the reception it got overseas, I don’t know what happened. And the hate spamming we went through – our walls used to be spammed every day with hatred, because we attempted to discover and make a movie on female sexuality. I can only imagine what’s gonna happen when ‘LSD 2’ [Dibakar Banerjee’s sequel to his 2010 hit LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha] comes. I think I’ll have to hide again (sic).”
Ekta Kapoor alongside Reha Kapoor backed the film, Veere Di Wedding, while the duo expected major returns from the film. Ekta said, “It’s a work in progress, but it’s happening and it’s exciting. It’s going to take a bit but I feel like we’re getting there. It’s a rediscovery of what the spirit of ‘Veere Di Wedding’ was, so it’s not going to be what people expect. I’m going to take my time and make it as special as I can. And, I’ll do it when it’s just right. Even if Ekta kills me (sic).” For the unversed, the latest release Crew, is co-produced by Ekta and Rhea.
Ektaa Kapoor had earlier expressed her attachment to LSD2 and issued a disclaimer for the audience. This indicates that the makers are aware of the potentially controversial nature of the content and are taking steps to prepare the audience for what they are about to experience.
Taking it to Instagram Story, Ekta wrote, “V FEW THINGS. SHOCK ME. BUT LSD2 IS THAT PIECE. OF CONTENT THAT GIVES ME COURAGE N FEAR IN. EQUAL MEASURE THEREFORE AS WE SHARE D DARK N DOGMA. TEASER OF LSD2 WE. WANNA CARRY AS MUCH. DISCRETION. N DISCLAIMERS !!! TOM 2 PM (sic).” Ekta Kapoor further added, “THIS IS NO PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY JUST. GETTING. PPL ADJUSTED TO D CONTENT. BEFORE SHARING:) (sic).”
