Poonam Pandey staged her demise in February last year. The announcement was made official via her Instagram handle. Later, she clarified that she was still alive and the purpose of the whole act was just to raise awareness about cervical cancer. This shocked the entire nation, and Poonam faced heavy criticism following that.
Recently, Poonam opened up about the whole incident and how it took a toll on her mental heath. The actress revealed that the backlash she got after her ‘death’ stunt actually left her depressed and traumatised for a month. While speaking to india.com, Poonam shared, “I couldn’t deal with the backlash. I was traumatised for an entire month, I was in depression.”
Poonam called it an extremely ‘sad’ phase of her life. She added, “We all humans have these phases right, sad phase or happy phase and that was my bad phase. See, it did create an impact but yeah it was traumatising for me. Ironman thodi hun main yaar, bura lagta hai. But the good thing is people have gone out and have taken vaccinations. So, things have favoured.”

Unlike some other cancers, Cervical Cancer is entirely preventable. The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. We have the means to ensure no one loses their life to this disease.
