Just when we thought that the big Bollywood box office clash between Shah Rukh Khan – Mahira Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan – Yami Gautam’s Kaabil has been avoided, SRK surprised us by announcing a new release date when he launched the Raees trailer yesterday. Both the films were supposed to release on Republic Day 26th January 2017 initially. Just a few days back, the makers of Kaabil shifted the date to a day prior on 25th. And now, Shah Rukh’s Raees will also hit screens on the same day! Also Read - Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav Unite For Farhan Akhtar's Next Project ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’

Shah Rukh, who earlier shifted the release date of his movie from Eid 2016, so as to avoid clash with Salman Khan’s Sultan, seems in a mood to take on the box office this time around! While the makers of Kaabil claim that they were the first ones to decide and announce the change of date, Shah Rukh Khan shared with the media on Wednesday that, “Actually we decided first because earlier both the films were releasing on 26th. So I think we ended the discussion as soon as we got to know both are releasing together. So we had decided with our exhibitors and distributors that we’ll come on 25th. And I think Kaabil is releasing in the evening shows, we will come at regular shows.” King Khan further added that it was a logical decision since 26th is a holiday and they wanted to take advantage of it. However, these recent developments didn’t go down well with Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan and he was quite open about his disappointment. In an interview with Indian Express, papa Roshan has been quoted as saying, “So I met SRK and explained it to him that there is a well and we both are jumping into it. Because there is a box-office limitation of not crossing 300 crore, either you will be at 170 and I at 130 or you at 150 and me at 150 but nobody will cross 300 crores. I also told him Hrithik is not your contemporary. Your contemporaries are Salman Khan and Aamir Khan who have already crossed 300 crores. So it is better that we don’t clash and you choose some other date. He understood and then he again announced it to clash with our film.” (ALSO READ: WATCH Kaabil Hoon: Will Hrithik Roshan-Yami Gautam’s crackling chemistry trump over Shah Rukh Khan’s daredevilry in Raees?) But has the incident affected his long standing equation with Shah Rukh with whom he’s worked in Karan Arjun and Koyla? As per a report on Bollywoodlife, Roshan said, “Like The Godfather says, ‘It’s never personal. It’s just business’, likewise SRK has been my actor and my friend and that won’t change.”

However, this change in dates and the inevitable clashing at the box office has taken a toll on Hrithik Roshan and his childhood friend Farhan Akthar’s relationship. While the Guzaarish star plays the lead in Kaabil, Farhan is the producer of Raees. According to our source, Hrithik is miffed with his best buddy for not doing anything to avoid the clash between Raees and Kaabil. The source shared with India.com, “Hrithik and Farhan have been great friends since their childhood and therefore since he is the producer of the film, Hrithik had expected Farhan to intervene so that a Raees vs Kaabil clash can be avoided. While Rakesh Roshan was having discussions with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik too spoke to Farhan to see if something can be worked out.” We all can see that it didn’t work. The source further added that it is possible that Farhan must have been unable to do anything since Raees is jointly produced by SRK’s Red Chillies and Excel Entertainment and while he is a producer, he is also a close friend of Shah Rukh. He must have deemed it fit to stay away from all of this. It can be noted that while Ritesh Sidhwani from Excel was present at the Raees trailer launch yesterday, Farhan gave it a miss. A look at his Twitter and you can see that he evens staying away from actively promoting Raees, despite being a producer. Will a dear friend turn into foe and a great bond go kaput due to the Raees vs Kaabil clash? Only time will tell. We tried calling Hrithik and Farhan, but both were unavailable for comments.
