It’s been 25 years since the popular quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, saw its first winner in Harshvardhan Nawathe. He created history in 2000 by winning Rs 1 crore. Harshvardhan marked the beginning of a legacy, as the audience started believing that the show actually gives money.

25 years go, Harshvardhan Nawathe was a civil service aspirant, diligently preparing for the IAS examinations in Delhi. After winning the title of crorepati, he gained stardom overnight.

Recently, he was introduced in a segment to honour 25 years of the quiz show, leaving fans surprised with his physical transformation with age. “Ghar waapsi ki jo feeling hoti hai, woh hai. 25 saal bahut bada period hota hai. 25 saal ke baad yahan aake mujhe bahut jyada khushi ho rahi hai. KBC ne mujhe bahut recognition diya. Paisa toh mila hi, bahut adulation mila aur bahut logo ka pyaar mila (It feels like a homecoming. 25 years is a long time. Coming back here after 25 years makes me very happy. KBC gave me a lot of recognition. I received money, a lot of adulation, and a lot of love from people),” he was heard saying in the clip.

What does Harshvardhan Nawathe do now?

According to a Navbharat Times report, Harshvardhan resides in Mumbai and reportedly works for a multinational company. He has been the head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the prestigious Mahindra Group since early 2019. He has gained top fame in the corporate industry and is blessed with two sons. Harshvardhan’s wife is Sarika who is very active on Instagram.

In an earlier interview, he claimed that people’s attitude towards him changed after he became a crorepati. After gaining the whopping amount, he went abroad, reportedly to complete his education and invest the money wisely.
