Very few franchises in Bollywood manage to live upto the audience’s expectations and one of them is Fukrey Returns. The flick is the sequel of 2013’s Fukrey starring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha and Manjot Singh in the lead. The four friends, who took us on a roller coaster ride of hilarious misadventures in the prequel, came back with an, even more, crazier film with Fukrey Returns. This flick directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and bankrolled by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani has already turned into a profitable film. On day 5, Fukrey Returns raked in Rs 5.05 crore taking up the total collection to Rs 42.35 crore.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh says, “#FukreyReturns is simply UNSTOPPABLE… EXCELLENT hold on Tue [almost at par with Mon biz]… Fri 8.10 cr, Sat 11.30 cr, Sun 12.80 cr, Mon 5.10 cr, Tue 5.05 cr. Total: 42.35 cr.India biz.” The figure raked in, in 5 days is definitely impressive for a 25 crore budget film that it is! If you remember, Fukrey Returns released at the same time (Dec 8) when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati was about to release previously (Dec 1). However, as Deepika Padukone starrer Padmavati got delayed due to various reasons, it has worked wonders for Fukrey Returns. Meanwhile, the fans are expecting a third installment of the flick soon.
