The Bollywood wives club comprising Shah Rukh Khan‘s wife Gauri Khan, Ajay Devgn’s actress wife Kajol, Arbaaz Khan’s wife Malaika Arora Khan and Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja has received a notice from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. While you may be wondering what the reason for this letter is, rest assured that the wives have done no wrong – it is their husbands!
The AAP government thinks that Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Govind and Arbaaz Khan continue to endorse pan masala, in spite of the Delhi government having written to them earlier requesting not to do so. The harmful effects of consuming pan masala products are known to all, and yet the actors endorse such products that could lead to cancer, says the letter. The Delhi government claims to have written to actress Sunny Leone and actor Saif Ali Khan as well, and according to them, Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber responded positively to the request. Sunny will not endorse pan masala ever.
The AAP government in Delhi also urged the star wives to join their anti-tobacco campaign to help reduce death by oral cancer.
Dr S K Arora, Additional Director (Health), Delhi Government, has reportedly written to Gauri Khan, Kajol, Malaika Arora Khan and Sunita Ahuja, asking them to stop their actor husbands from doing pan masala advertisements. The letter’s contents show Arora reportedly saying, “Humble appeal to you for encouraging Mr Shah Rukh Khan not to participate in advertisements of pan masala in larger public health interest. Earlier, a letter was written to Mr Khan for not to participate in such advertisements in public interest. Nonetheless I have not received any response till date nor he has plugged doing such advertisements.”
“A similar letter was sent to Ms Sunny Leone and I am delighted to inform that I have received an affirmative response with the assurance of not to indulge in such promotion in future. Moreover, she is consulting the companies for the terms and conditions of present contract to stop advertising pan masalas,” Arora is believed to have further said.
Arora emphasised that actors were role models and therefore should not do pan masala or similar ads that could cause oral cancer. Incidentally, Gauri Khan lost her father Colonel Ramesh Chandra Chibba on March 1, 2016.
