The first teaser of Haiwaan has arrived with a mood that feels dark right from the beginning. Released on Wednesday, August 12, the teaser gives only small hints about Priyadarshan‘s upcoming mystery thriller but manages to build strong curiosity. Superstars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are at the centre of this unsettling world, though neither actor’s face is shown in the short glimpse. Saif appears to play a blind man while Akshay’s character seems dangerous and unpredictable. Instead of explaining the story, the teaser focuses on atmosphere and leaves viewers wondering about the battle between the hero and the Haiwaan.

Haiwaan teaser keeps the story hidden

The teaser reveals very little about the plot. Saif’s character appears to be visually impaired while Akshay’s role carries a threatening presence. The decision to keep both faces hidden makes the characters even more intriguing.

Akshay shared the teaser on Instagram with the line: “HE hears the danger…I AM the danger! Ab jeet kiski hogi? Hero ya Haiwaan?” The statement immediately suggests that the film will revolve around a confrontation between two contrasting characters.

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan reunite

Haiwaan marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after 18 years. The actors have previously worked together in films including Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Tashan. Their return together has become one of the major talking points around the project.

The teaser adds another layer to their reunion by placing them in roles that appear very different from their earlier collaborations. Akshay seems to be embracing a darker character while Saif’s blind character could become central to the mystery.

A special technical touch in the teaser

The teaser deserves a special shoutout for its technical execution. Cinematographer Divakar Mani creates a shadowy and mysterious visual world that keeps the tension alive without revealing too much.

Composer Ronnie Raphael also returns from Oppam and his music helps maintain the suspenseful mood. The combination of Divakar Mani’s cinematography and Ronnie Raphael’s background score gives the teaser a carefully controlled atmosphere where even brief visuals feel significant.

Priyadarshan returns with an action-crime thriller

Haiwaan is the official Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam film Oppam. The original featured Mohanlal in the lead role and was known for combining crime drama with suspense and action.

The Hindi adaptation features Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Boman Irani and Jisshu Sengupta alongside the two leads. Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal will also make a cameo appearance which is expected to be one of the film’s special attractions.

What Haiwaan could mean for Akshay and Saif fans?

The teaser of Haiwaan creates curiosity without giving away too much. Its dark visuals mysterious mood and restrained storytelling suggest a thriller that could offer something different to both Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan fans. Their reunion after 18 years makes the film even more exciting.

If the mystery and tension seen in the teaser carry through the full film it could become a fresh and intense big-screen experience for their fans. The film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn and is scheduled to release in theatres on September 11, 2026.
