Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor will be seen together on the big screen for the very first time in their upcoming film, Half Girlfriend, which is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel by the same name. It’s a love story between a Madhav Jha (Arjun), a rural Hindi-speaking boy from Bihar and Riya Somani (Shraddha), a sophisticated English-speaking rich Delhi girl. It might sound very cliche, but there is more to their story, which goes through some twists and turns. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film has managed to create a strong buzz, thanks to all the heavy promotions. Add to it is the music album, which is a good mix of some foot tapping numbers and heart-wrenching songs. There are obviously a lot of expectations from Half Girlfriend, which is all set to hit the theatres this Friday (May 19). Will it be able to live up to all the hype and make money at the box office? We contacted trade expert Taran Adarsh to know how the film will perform and here’s what he had to say. Also Read - Shraddha Kapoor Wins Hearts As She Turns Officiator For Her Makeup Artist

“There are a lot of expectations because Half Girlfriend comes from the team of Ek Villain. We have the same director, same producers. Mohit Suri is a successful director and people look forward to watch his films,” says Taran. Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) also expects Half Girlfriend to do a fairly good business at the box office. “Half Girlfriend is more for the masses, more universal in context. It is one of those films that should work on a pan-India basis and hence it is having a much wider release,” said Rathi while talking to BollywoodLife. But how much will Half Girlfriend earn at the box office on the first day? “Half Girlfriend should rake in anywhere between Rs 8-10 crore on day one,” says Akshaye. And what about the first weekend collections? “It can easily rake in Rs 35 crore plus over the opening weekend,” Rathi was further quoted by BL.

Well, all we can do is just wait for this Friday and see if Shraddha and Arjun’s first outing on the big screen together will work or will fail. How excited are you to watch Half Girlfriend? Let us know in the comments section below.
