Sexual Harasser Harvey Weinstein has been tested positive for the coronavirus. A US media report confirmed the news and mentioned that the disgraced Hollywood producer was diagnosed for the COVID-19 and the reports showed he had contracted the infection. The news came out on Sunday evening and was first reported by the local newspaper Niagara Gazette. However, it is not yet confirmed by the official spokesperson of the infamous Hollywood mogul who is serving a jail term of 23 years in the northern New York state.

As mentioned by a news agency, the New York State Department of Corrections did not respond to the information.

It was on Wednesday that Weinstein was transferred to a prison near Buffalo which is 350 miles northwest of New York City. It is likely that he contracted the infection while going from one jail to another. It is also believed that as the novel coronavirus continues to grow all across the world, it is quite possible he got the infection at the crowded US prisons. Reportedly, some guards at Rikers and New York’s Sing Sing prison were also tested positive for the virus last week.

Weinstein was convicted of rape and sexual assault in the landmark #MeToo judgment by a Los Angeles court in February. As soon as he was convicted and sent to jail, the Oscar-winning producer complained of chest pains. Weinstein stayed at Rikers Island prison and Manhattan hospital for the treatment of chest pains before being transferred.

More than 90 women including biggies like Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek had accused the producer of sexual misconduct.
