Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who was away from the theatres for a while, made a comeback to Bollywood after four long years and the film that she chose for her fans to rejoice is Yash Raj Film’s Hichki. The actress’ comeback film Hichki released on March 23, 2018 and it opened to positive response from all ends, although the opening day box office collection of the movie remained quite average. Rani’s film closed with a decent sum of Rs. 3.30 crore in its pocket on its first day. Though Ajay Devgn’s Raid and Kartik Aaryan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety continued their smooth run at the box office, Rani Mukerji-starrer Hichki too managed to hold its own.
Film Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to his micro-blogging site to share the day one box office collection of Rani Mukerji’s film Hichki on his Twitter handle and wrote, “#Hichki settles and cements its status as Day 1 progresses… Records better occupancy post evening onwards… Sat and Sun expected to witness escalation in biz… Fri ₹ 3.30 cr [961 screens]. India biz.” ALSO READ: Raid Box Office Collection Day 8: Ajay Devgn – Ileana D’Cruz’s Film Earns Rs 66.60 Crore
Helmed by Siddharth P Malhotra, Hichki stars Rani Mukerji as an inspiring and self-motivated school teacher named Naina Mathur, who suffers from Tourrete syndrome. The film is based on Cohen’s autobiography ‘Front of the Class : How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had’. In the film, Rani’s story mirrors the life of Cohen, a respected and popular motivational speaker and teacher from the United States. Rani’s Hichki is bankrolled by Maneesh Sharma under the Yash Raj Films banner. Watch this space for further updates.
