Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard over allegations of domestic violence against him. Amber had written an op-ed in The Washington Post in which she characterised herself as a domestic abuse victim, following which Johnny filed the lawsuit. The actor’s lawyer has termed the allegations by the actress a hoax. Also Read - 'We Are Not at Risk': Elon Musk Says He and His Family Won't Get Coronavirus Vaccine

According to People.com, Amber wrote from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’, and had claimed that she ‘felt the full force of their culture’s wrath for women who speak out’ when she had ‘spoken out against sexual violence’. PEOPLE also got hold of Johnny’s lawsuit in which his lawyers had stated, “The op-ed depended on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her. Mr. Depp never abused Ms. Heard. Her allegations against him were false when they were made in 2016. They were part of an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Ms. Heard and advance her career.” Also Read - Jeff Bezos World's First Person to Hit Net Worth of 200 Billion Dollar, Elon Musk Becomes Centibillionaire

Johnny also accused Amber of beginning a romantic relationship with Tesla founder Elon Musk “no later than one month after” she and Depp married in 2015. As stated in the lawsuit, Johnny claims Amber received “late night” visits from billionaire businessman Elon at the LA penthouse that was shared by him and Amber while he was away.

Reacting to the allegations her, Amber’s representative issued a statement that said, “This frivolous action is just the latest of Johnny Depp’s repeated efforts to silence Amber Heard. She will not be silenced. Mr. Depp’s actions prove he is unable to accept the truth of his ongoing abusive behavior. But while he appears hell-bent on achieving self-destruction, we will prevail in defeating this groundless lawsuit and ending the continued vile harassment of my client by Mr. Depp and his legal team.”

Johnny, 55, and Amber, 32, had met on the set of 2011’s The Rum Diary and were married from February 2015 to May 2016. Amber filed for a domestic violence restraining order against Johnny in May 2016 after she accused him of abusing her. The actor denied her charges and they settled their divorce out of court in August 2016 for $7 million, which she donated to charity. Both signed NDAs that barred them from discussing their relationship publicly.
