House of The Dragons Season 2: The makers of the ‘House of the Dragons‘ dropped two trailers for its season 2 on Thursday night. This is the beginning of the war, taking place 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and it’s time to choose your side – green or black. The trailers show the tension in the King’s Landing as Rhaenyra and her team prepare to dethrone the ‘fake king Aegon’ following her father’s death, to get her rightful claim on the throne as ‘Queen Rhaenyra’. Prince Daemon returns to join his wife and the rightful heir to the throne in the war, before warning the Greens about their intentions.
While one trailer focuses on Rhaenyra, the other is about Alicent, her father Otto, and her kids King Aegon and Prince Aemond. “You have no idea of the sacrifices that were made to put you on that throne,” tells Alicent to Aegon as she prepares him for the war. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Prince Aemond murdering Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon. The war is now imminent in Westeros and team black is gathering all their allies, dragons and forces to begin a bloody battle. Apart from the war prep and the announcement of the beginning of the ‘Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war, the trailers also tease glimpses from Winterfell, the home of the Starks. The trailers show Cregan Stark, the ruler of the snowy kingdom in the North in the prequel.

Season 2 will premiere on June 16 this year on HBO MAX, and Disney+Hotstar in India. The show is based on ‘Fire & Blood’ a fantasy book by George RR Martin which focuses on the history of House Targaryen. Season 1 was all about the introduction of the dragons, establishing the strongest characters and following Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen’s fight to be named the chosen heir of King Viserys 1. The show stars Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen.
Earlier, when season 1 of the show premiered in August 2022, it became the biggest series premiere in the history of HBO. Episode 1 of season 1 garnered around 10 million viewers. It was a 10-episode series which ended in October 2022.
