Actor Hrithik Roshan has donated an amount of Rs 20 lakh to help the government fight coronavirus pandemic that has infected over 600 people in India with 16 deaths reported so far. A report in Times of India suggests that the actor, like other prominent Bollywood celebrities, has donated the figure to help the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) workers and the government in curbing the spread of the deadly COVID-19. The report quoted a source confirming that “Hrithik has extended his support to the Government of Maharashtra in their endeavour to curb the spread of the pandemic. He had been looking for ways to help the street-level bureaucrats like the BMC workers and other caretakers who are out there and contributed a total amount of Rs 20 lakh to the cause.” The actor, too, took to Twitter to thank the Maharashtra government for letting him help those in need. He first wrote, “In times such as these, we must do whatever we can to ensure the safety of the most fundamental caretakers of our city and society. I have procured N95 and FFP3 masks for our BMC workers and other caretakers…My gratitude to @AUThackeray for giving me the opportunity to support the Maharashtra govt in their endeavour to curb the pandemic. Hrithik also urged all to not let those who are at work wait at their doors. His tweet read, “To all the people who have lab representatives coming over to your house to collect swab / blood samples, I have a humble request to make! Please don’t make them wait🙏🏻 Be available to them instantly, respect their time as they have far more lives to save.

Apart from Hrithik, comedian Kapil Sharma has donated a sum of Rs 50 lakh to the PM relief fund. South star Pawan Kalyan donated Rs 2 crore while Prabhas donated Rs 1 crore for the aid of those affected with the virus. Actor Ram Charan also donated Rs 70 lakh to the Andhra Pradesh and the Telangana government.
