And the winners of the 48th edition of IFFI 2017 are...
The 48th International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) 2017 that kickstarted on November 22, is coming to an end today. This year the film made headlines for a lot of reasons– whether it was for the films that got screened and appreciated or for those that got dropped at the last minute due to its controversial contents. Films like S Durga and Nude were the noteworthy films that came under the radar of controversies. The week-long event saw Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Sridevi, Jahnvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Karan Johar among others grace the stage. Today, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Sonali Bendre, Akshay Kumar, Zaira Wasim, Papon Angaraag and Huma Qureshi are among the Bollywood celebs who are attending the closing ceremony.
There were many films that won our hearts and got applauded for its content. The awards function today felicitated all those personalities and films, from all across the globe, hat left audiences and critics impressed at the festival. The most significant award of the festival, ie the Best Film Award was bagged by 120 Beats Per Minute by Robin Campillo. The acclaimed Canadian film maker, Atom Egoyan was felicitated with the Life time Achievement Award at the IFFI 2017 Closing Ceremony by the Union Minister Smriti Irani, Katrina Kaif and Mr Patel. Amitabh Bachchan won the Indian Film Personality of The Year Award. While Akshay Kumar shared an interesting anecdote about his first meeting with Dr Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra paid a tribute to the legendary actor by dancing to his iconic songs. The Best actor award was bagged by Nahuel Perez Biscayart for the movie 120 BPM at the film festival, while the best actress award was won by Parvathy Thiruvoth Kottuvatta, for her film Take Off. This edition of the film festival was a grand affair and was bigger and better than the earlier ones. The festival is known to be a platform that brings to the fore some of the best talents, body of work and films from across the globe. With this year’s ceremony being a huge hit, it has set forth a benchmark for all the festivals to follow in the coming future. Let’s hope that the following editions of IFFI outbid this year’s film festival in every aspect.
