Actor Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to offer condolences to the families of the ones who got killed on the sets of his film Indian 2. Three technicians lost their lives after a crane collapsed on Wednesday night at EVP film city in Chennai. Haasan was also present on the sets but he escaped unhurt. The incident happened when a lighting truss attached to a crane, weighing around 100 tons, crashed during the shoot of the film. Reportedly, the director of the film – Shankar was injured along with 10 other crew members. In his tweet made on Thursday, the actor mentioned how this is the most horrific incidents he has witnessed in his entire film career so far. The actor’s tweet that was made in the Tamil language read, “Today’s accident is the most horrific I have seen in my film career. I have lost three colleagues but my pain pales in comparison to the grief of those who have lost their loved ones. Haasan also mentioned that he visited those who are admitted to the hospital and is keeping a constant check on their health. The actor said, “I have met those in the hospital and have also spoken to the doctors and with my strong hope that the injured will recover soon I await the dawn of tomorrow.”

The banner backing Indian 2, Lyca Productions posted an official statement on the matter and released the names of the three technicians who passed away. The three deceased were 29-year-old Art Assistant Chandran, 60-year-old Production Assistant Madhu, and a 34-year-old Assistant Director Krishna.

Actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar also posted about the incident on Twitter. She wrote, “Death is natural.. but when untimely deaths happen it’s extremely heartbreaking and frustrating.. we may not know those families but we have all experienced loss.. my heart goes out to the 3 families from the #Indian2Accident may their souls rest in peace..!! @LycaProductions.” (sic)

Actors Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal, who are part of Indian 2, also expressed grief. In her tweet, Kajal mentioned that she was present on the sets when the accident happened and it took her a ‘fraction of second to stay alive.’ Her post read, “In so much shock, denial, trauma from the monstrous crane accident last night. All it took was a fraction of a second to stay alive and type this tweet. Just that one moment. Gratitude. So much learning and appreciation for the value of time and life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻” (sic)

Rakul Preet’s tweet read, “Shocked to hear about the accident on the set of my film indian 2.. I don’t even know how to process the loss of lives.. my Heart goes out to families of the deceased .. extremely extremely sad 😔” (sic)

The inquiry in the matter is underway and the case has been registered for further investigations.
