Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya has been into the soup after his sexist remarks on women on Karan Johar’s show Koffee with Karan. His comments triggered massive outrage on the internet and his remarks were criticised as sexist, misogynistic and racist. Though he has issued an apology for his actions, BCCI is likely to take action against him. Not only this but apparently the recent buzz is that the all-rounder has been dropped from several big endorsement deals after his remarks on the chat show. According to the report in Bollywood Life, a fitness brand was keen on collaborating with Hardik but now it has all turned skewed after his words on the chat show that none of his fans saw it coming. However, in his apology, he wrote, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments.” Also Read - India vs Australia 2nd ODI, Today Match Report: Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell Shine as Australia Crush India to Take Unassailable Series Lead in Sydney
On the show, Pandya boasted about hooking up with multiple women and spoke about how open he is with his parents, saying he had once told them after losing his virginity, “aaj mai kar ke aaya.”
When the host of the show asked him why didn’t he ask women their name in a club, Pandya responded by saying, “I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I’m little from the black side so I need to see how they move.”
“We have sent show cause notices to Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul for their comments. They have been given 24 hours to give an explanation,” Chairman of the Committee of Administrators that runs the BCCI, Vinod Rai, told PTI.
Pandya is currently with the Indian team in Australia where they recently recorded a historic maiden Test series win.
Pandya had joined the team before the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne after recovering from a back injury which he had suffered during the Asia Cup in UAE last year.
He will be seen in action in the three-match ODI series against Australia which starts on January 12 in Sydney.
