The comedy film Welcome released in the year 2007, remains one of the most loved comedy movies in Bollywood. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the movie starred Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and Mallika Sherawat in the lead roles. Welcome turned out to be a massive hit at the box office.

On its opening week, Welcome earned a massive response locally, by grossing Rs 35 crore. Despite facing competition from the popular Aamir Khan-starrer, Taare Zaamen Par which was also a huge success, Welcome grossed Rs 97.43 crore domestically. It became the second highest grossing film of 2007, just behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om. Made in Rs 32 crore, the worldwide collection of this film was around Rs 117.91 crore.

There were reports that Akshay Kumar and Anil Kumar had a minor fallout during the shooting of Welcome. Akshay wanted his name to first on credits as he was the lead hero while Anil wanted his name to be first as he was senior to him. Reports claim that filmmaker Anees Bazmee put the argument to an end as he decided that Feroz Khan’s name will be first as he was the senior out of all.

Moreover, The Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar starrer also marked last film of the late veteran actor Feroz Khan in the industry before his death in the year 2009. He passed away on April 27, 2009 at the age of 69 after a long battle with lung cancer.

The second installment of the comedy drama that was Welcome Back released in 2015 and was a commercial success. The third installment of the Welcome Franchise, Welcome To The Jungle, is scheduled for release in 2025. It will star Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Lara Dutta in lead roles.
