Indu Sarkar just hit the screens and the viewers are giving mixed response to the film. The film was engulfed in the controversy due to the political drama and the portrayal of the emergency period in the film. After the power pack performance of Kirti Kulahri, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher and Supriya Vinod, the film is anticipated to stay here for long. We saw Kirti’s amazing performance in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Pink’ and naturally the audience has more expectations from her in this film. On day 1, the film managed to gain Rs 1.42 crores only.
The film got less screen counts, thanks to the protests by the political parties against the controversial film. Talking about the controversy, director Madhur Bhandarkar told Indian Express, “We never thought the controversy would reach to this level because ultimately it is a film and not a biopic. It is not even a docu drama of on the Emergency period in India. It is just focusing on certain incidents that happened during the Emergency period that’s all what we are showing with a little bit of fiction.” (ALSO READ: Indu Sarkar Movie Review: Madhur Bhandarkar’s Film On The Emergency Receives Mixed Response)
Even though the film needs to buck up regarding the numbers, the critics are quite happy with the film. Also, Anil Kapoor- Arjun Kapoor starrer ‘Mubarakan’ has hit the screens and getting rave response. What audience chooses to see first, will be decided in this weekend.
