Is Quentin Tarantino’s next film based on Manson Murders?
The celebrated director has approached Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence for the lead roles in the movie.
In 2014, Quentin Tarantino surprised the world with his retirement announcement post his 10th film. However, looks like the celebrated director has ever since walked back on his retirement plans. Quentin who churned out cult classics such as Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs and Django Unchained will soon direct a movie on the Manson Murders. While the director has reportedly already written this project, he plans on directing the movie soon.
For the uninitiated, Charles Manson was an unemployed convict as well as an unsuccessful musician who led a bloodthirsty cult. The group was particularly known for their attack on the inhabitants of a house in Los Angeles, allegedly owned by a record producer who, in the past, had rejected Manson. The attack gruesomely led to the killing of 5 people. Manson along with few members from his cult were sentenced to life imprisonment in 1971 for this and several other murders committed during the summer of 1969. Those who watch Tarantino movies are well aware of the director/screen writer’s fresh approach to a narrative and it wouldn’t be surprising if he does the same with this historic crime thriller. While it’s too early to say, the director could also take a few cinematic liberties with respect to the historical facts, which if it happens, would certainly add flavour to the thriller.
Emerging reports indicate that the movie may also focus on the most famous victim of the incident, Sharon Tate, who was French-Polish film director, producer, writer and actor, Roman Polanski’s wife. Apparently, she was eight month’s pregnant when the incident took place.
Given that it’s a Quentin Tarantino film, we are expecting the movie to have an equally celebrated star cast. According to Hollywood Reporter, the director has approached Brad Pitt, who worked with Quentin in his movie Inglorious Bastards, and Jennifer Lawrence for the lead roles. However, no further news has been reported on their confirmation for the same.
