Ishaan Khatter talks about working with big brother Shahid Kapoor in a movie

Even as Ishaan Khatter gears up to make his Bollywood debut with Dhadak, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor and releasing on July 20, he is already winning hearts with his performance in his Hindi film Beyond The Clouds. The film directed by Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi, also starring Malavika Mohanan, has become the talk of the town with most impressed with the young actor’s earnest performance. In a story and setting that doesn’t have a lot of uniqueness to offer, Ishaan shines bright. The actor is the younger brother of one of the most talented actors Shahid Kapoor and therefore comparisons were bound to happen. The verdict is: Ishaan shows promise and is great in intense scenes just like Shahid and not just this, he also dances like a dream ala his big brother.

The next level to this comparisons is the wish to see Ishaan Khatter and Shahid Kapoor share screen space. Will it happen? The budding actor says, it definitely will. In an interview to a leading daily, the Beyond The Clouds star said, “Pray for it, we will do it. Everyone’s saying it, so there must be a reason why they want to see us together. I’ll be on cloud nine if I get that kind of opportunity.” But just because people around them want to see the brothers come together for a project doesn’t excite Ishaan enough. He has his conditions set. “We shouldn’t be doing it just because people want us to. It has to be the right kind of a film and have equal opportunity for both of us. More than anything, both of us are so passionate about cinema that we would want it to be the best film that it can ever be,” Ishaan revealed to DNA, adding that while he would feel he is lucky to arrive at an opportunity like that, it is not something he is aiming at.

When asked if it would be a dance film since bother the brothers are amazing dancers and it would be a treat for the audience Ishaan said, “I’m a decent dancer. My brother’s better than me.” However, while he would not mind doing a dance film, he doesn’t want dance to be the only USP. “It should be called a dance film for a reason and made by someone who’s passionate about it and has a story to tell,” said Ishaan, revealing his understanding of cinema and also being sorted in the head about what kind of cinema he wants to choose and which kind to stay away from. And why not? With a successful actor like Shahid for an elder brother and mentor, this is expected out of Ishaan.
