Veteran actress Charu Rohatgi, who essayed the role of Barun Sobti’s nani (maternal grandmother) in the much-celebrated show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3, passed away today. Reportedly, the late actress, who was a popular face in the entertainment industry and is best known for her roles in Bollywood films like 15 Park Avenue (2005), Second Marriage Dot Com (2012) and 1920 London (2016), suffered a cardiac arrest in the morning, according to reports. A source close to the veteran actress told an online portal SpotboyE.com said, “The cause of death was stress as she was shooting until 3 am. Her funeral will take place today, however, the time is yet to be decided since one of her daughters will reach the city at 2 pm.”

Charu Rohatgi had also played the role of Golmaal Again actress Parineeti Chopra’s mother in Arjun Kapoor starrer Ishaqzaade. The latter took to her Twitter handle to share the news of the former’s demise. She tweeted, “RIP Charu Rohatgi ma’am. You were the most loving mother in Ishaqzaade and an amazing woman to work with. The 47-year old, who was known for her roles in other TV shows namely Uttaran, Pratigya, Trideviyaan and others, started her journey on TV with the show, Ladies Special. Speaking about her journey after she came to Mumbai, the actress, in a statement to Tellybuzz, had told, “Well, I started my journey with Ladies Special on Sony TV and later bagged the movie Patiala House. I always wanted to become an actor but I couldn’t go as there were loads of responsibilities on me. However, after both my daughter’s wedding, they decided to send me to Mumbai to pursue my dreams I was lucky enough to get into television.” We are saddened to hear about the loss of Charu Rohatgi and in this sorrowful time, we would like to extend to Charu’s loved ones our heartfelt condolences.
