But why did the victim take so long to come out in the open about it? According to reports she waited for her parents’ demise to do so as she knew it would break their heart. The complainant reportedly wants to be freed of the mental trauma that she had been subjected to all these years and wants justice to prevail, which explains why she filed a police complaint against the actor. Jeetendra is yet to comment on the allegation. Incidentally, another cousin of the veteran actor, Nitin Kapoor, allegedly committed suicide in 2017 by jumping off the terrace of a six-storey building at Seven Bungalows in Andheri West, in Mumbai. Talking about the incident, Jeetendra had told a leading daily, “He was my first cousin. I had not met him for a long time. I don’t know why he was not meeting me. He was avoiding me. His father was really close to me. He was like a father for me. I was away for a meeting. It was when my flight landed at around 8.40 pm that I came to know about this. I am in Delhi and am depressed to learn about this.”

The alleged sexual abuse case has come at a time when the  Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal has opened a bag a worms in Hollywood. Some of the biggest and most eminent Hollywood actresses came out in the open to speak about their horrific experiences of molestation by the movie mogul in the past. This is perhaps the first time that the actresses could unitedly bring down a power hungry film personality such as Weinstein. These revelations, for the first time ever, led to campaigns such as #MeToo and the Time’s Up Movement.
