It’s been almost four years since Bollywood actress Jiah Khan‘s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home, but there has been no verdict in this case. Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan continues fighting for justice for her daughter. The latest news is that Rabia has now filed for a Special Leave Petition (SLP) and has moved the case to the Supreme Court. SLP is something that can be filed against any judgement of any High Court in India. In January, Bombay High Court turned down an application seeking for a Special Investigation Team assisted by Federal Bureau of Investigation to probe if her daughter was murdered by Sooraj Pancholi who was reportedly dating Jiah back then. Rabia’s counsel also submitted photographs of Jiah’s corpse and the post-mortem report that suggested the possibility of a homicide, going by the injuries on her body. A bench comprising of judges, Ranjit More and Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi stated that there is no need to get in the way of the probe which is being done by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “Central Bureau of Investigation has carried out fresh investigation from all the aspects. But Rabia can still persuade the trial court based on the material produced by her, and that the charge sheet is not the end of the matter,” they were quoted by a leading daily.
