In just a matter of a month, many known personalities from different fields have been named and shamed of sexual misconduct. While this movement has helped many women get the courage to speak about their nerve-wracking incidents with people from the Bollywood film industry, it has now reached the Kanada film industry. A week back, Sangeetha Bhatt became the first prominent face from the Kannada film industry to speak up on #MeToo. Yesterday, another popular actor Sruthi Hariharan has accused pan-south India actor Arjun Sarja of sexually assaulting her during a shoot. Now, her friend and Kannada actress Shraddha Srinath stands in support of Sruthi and questions all the heroes of South Indian Cinema who promised to protect their mothers and sisters. Shraddha took to her Twitter to share, “I’m mildly curious. Where are the men. 🙂 The men who on 70 mm screens vow to protect their sisters and mothers and fight off a dozen bad men and make trucks fly. Please do your magic now. Say something. I just want to know what our superheroes think. That’s all. [sic].” She then lashed out at all the A-listers of South Indian cinema and said, “I guess it’s easier to make trucks fly than making people accept the fact that sexual harassment is a thing and that women don’t do it for attention”. Shraddha, who knew about Sruthi’s incident had earlier on 20 October mentioned in one of her tweets, “I have known about this incident since November 2016, when @sruthihariharan and I attended a talk show together and the talk of casting couch and other related topics came up. Shruti didn’t take names that day but off camera she told us what happened..” She further went on to add, “I’m sorry you went through what you did Shru. Nobody should feel uncomfortable at their work place, and nobody should be in a position to make someone feel uncomfortable.”.

“A woman comes out and talks about her bad experiences with a “star” and all of internet is in a frenzy. She gets death threats and is accused of doing it for attention. Because “HOW CAN HE OMG NOT POSSIBLE”. Happy women’s day in advance ROFL,” Shraddha wrote in another tweet.

Sruthi on Friday accused Arjun Sarja of sexually assaulting her during the rehearsals of a romantic scene from the bilingual film Vismaya. She said that he ran his hands up and down her back and pulled her closer to his body.

She revealed that she has been sexually harassed many times just like many other women. She also said she is coming out now to stop Arjun from doing the same with other actors in future.
