The battle for box office supremacy is heating up with two highly anticipated films, Kantara Chapter 1 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, set to clash on October 2, 2025. According to advance booking reports, Kantara Chapter 1, starring Rishab Shetty, is outperforming Varun Dhawan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
As per latest reports, Kantara Chapter 1 has collected Rs. 5.67 crore gross (all languages) on the first day, with block seats adding to the total, bringing it to Rs. 7.86 crore. The Hindi dubbed version of the film has sold over 15,000 tickets in booking for day one, grossing over Rs. 42 lakh. In contrast, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari stands way back, as it has earned around Rs. 34.48 lakh by selling over 6,648 tickets for its first day in pre-sales for 1,737 shows, and Rs. 1.12 crore with block seats.
Kantara Chapter 1 is winning the battle due to its strong advance booking numbers, existing success of the original film, and its mythological appeal. The original Kantara film’s huge success, crossing Rs 84 crore at the box office, has created a buzz around the sequel. Additionally, the film’s epic and mythological elements showcased in the trailer are attracting audiences. The strong response in Karnataka and the growing influence of regional cinema in the Hindi belt may also contribute to its lead. Overall, Kantara Chapter 1’s unique storyline and marketing strategy seem to be giving it an edge over its competitor, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
Kantara Chapter 1 is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster film Kantara, exploring the origins of the mythology and story told in the original film. The film stars Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, on the other hand, is a romantic comedy starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf.
