Life hasn’t been too rosy for Kapil Sharma. The comedy star’s image took a huge hit after his brawl with former colleague Sunil Grover went public. The past few months, he is making headlines for his controversies rather than his work. His latest comedy show Family Time With Kapil Sharma, which marked his comeback on the small screen after his film Firangi released last year, has now been put on hold. And the comedian is taking this time off to sort all his issues and bounce back with a bang. In an interview, Kapil shared, “I think I need some me time and need to recuperate. I’ve been working too hard for too long. There is a lot in the pipeline and lot of new exciting projects which I will talk about soon,” Kapil told IANS.

The actor feels burnt out but has promised to be back since he can’t stay away from not working, for long. “The reality right now is that I have worked very hard and I love what I do. I just need some time off and I promise you that I will be entertaining you again, as that is what I thrive on,” Kapil said.

Right from his tiff with Sunil, to his health condition, to his temperament and his relationship and its after effects with former girlfriend Preeti Simoes – a lot is being said and written about him the past few weeks and it is certainly been bothering him. He confessed, “What is most damaging and hurtful is when comments are made by those people that you consider your friends and your well-wishers. Over the years, I have always been about my work and that is what continues to drive me. Irrespective of what is said, my work will continue to be my biggest motivation.”

He also shared that it hurts him when he reads things that are not true and in such times, it is his work that comes to his rescue as it helps him take his mind off all the negativity. In the same interview, he also shared his feelings for his former colleagues from Comedy Nights With Kapil. For the uninitiated, Upasana Singh (the bua) and Ali Asgar (the dadi) have now joined Sunil on his new show Dhan Dhana Dhan. But Kapil wishes them well. “I am very happy for them, and in the same way, I would just want them to be happy for me too. There is ample space for them to grow in the industry and I wish them the very best,” he signed off.

We only hope that this break is brief and helps Kapil to get healthier and happier and all ready to regale us with guffaw inducing comedy once again.
