Janhvi Kapoor took to her Instagram account to reveal that Madhuri Dixit would be replacing her mother, the late Sridevi, in Abhishek Varman’s directorial venture. The young girl who is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Dhadak (Sairat’s Hindi remake), posted, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ….Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film….” Everyone almost instantly jumped the gun to state that Madhuri Dixit would be replacing her contemporary Sridevi in Shiddat. However, what no one noticed was that the 21-year-old girl did not mention Shiddat anywhere in her post. Shiddat was undoubtedly an ambitious project, bankrolled by Karan Johar‘s Dharma Productions and helmed by Varman, best known for his film 2 States, that was reportedly to star Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead. However, KJo repeatedly told us that the film is not in the pipeline anytime soon, making us ponder whether it has been shelved or no. Our hopes were ignited once again on reading Janhvi’s post earlier today. Imagining Madhuri to step into the shoes of the late actress in the film, fans were excited to see her share screen space with Sanjay Dutt after a little short of two decades. However, Karan Johar’s recent post has left us all disappointed and at the same time excited. Not only did he bust our bubble to see the Khalnayak pair once again, he also informed us that there was another film in the coming, which will star Madhuri in the lead and it’s not Shiddat. He wrote, “Some clarifications!!! Yes…we are honoured and humbled to have @MadhuriDixit on board for @abhivarman ‘s next! NO the film is NOT titled SHIDHAT! Yes the film will Commence shoot in mid April! The films final cast and credits will be announced soon!” Also Read - Do Villain Movie News: Aditya Roy Kapur Leaves The Film Due to 'Creative Differences' With Mohit Suri?
I guess we have no choice but to wait out on this one to know what the producer-filmmaker means. Previously a source close to KJo’s production house had revealed to a leading daily that there were a lot of speculative stories doing the rounds about the star cast of Abhishek Varman’s Shiddat but noone had been approached for the film post Sidevi’s sudden demise. “Karan is very sensitive about the Kapoor family and till all the post-death rituals of Sridevi are not completed, he wouldn’t start anything. Also, Karan is not in the country so till he isn’t back, nobody would be approached.”
