In the wake of outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 (coronavirus), many Bollywood actors including Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, Kapil Sharma, Sonam Kapoor have come forward to donate for the people’s welfare during the dark times. Now, Kartik Aaryan has joined the bandwagon and has pledged to donate Rs 1 crore to do his bit for people who are the worst sufferers of the country during the lockdown. Taking to social media, he released a statement and wrote, “It is the absolute need of the hour to rise together as a nation. Whatever I am, whatever money I’ve earned, is only because of the people of India; and for us I am contributing Rs. 1 crore to the PM-CARES Fund. Earlier, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli also pledged to support the people in need by contributing their part. However, the couple have not disclosed the amount that they will be donating. Taking to Instagram, they released a statement that reads, “Virat and I pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Miinister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona.” (sic)

Meanwhile, actors such as Hrithik Roshan, Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, Varn Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Guru Randhawa, T-series owner Bhushan Kumar, Baahubali actor Prabhas contributed towards the cause. Even Telugu actors Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu also donated for the cause. Tollywood stsr Allu Arjun announced the donation of Rs 1.25 crore for the welfare of the people in states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telngana.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced 21-days of complete lockdown till April 14 in order to combat pandemic COVID-19. So far, India has recorded over 1,161 cases and 32 people have died due to coronavirus, as of March 30.
