In the ever-evolving world of cinema, where sequels often aim to recapture the charm and amplify the scale and entertainment of the original, Kapil Sharma’s sequel doesn’t seem to match the charm of the first part. While the film offers a few entertaining moments and banks heavily on its ensemble cast, an overstretched runtime prevents it from leaving a strong impact at the box office.

Box office performance: Slower than expected

According to figures, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 opened to modest numbers at the domestic box office. The film earned Rs 1.85 crore on day one, followed by Rs 2.5 crore on day two. On day three, early estimates suggest a collection of Rs 2.64 crore net, taking the film’s total three-day collection to less than Rs 7 crore.

Despite the weekend advantage, the film recorded a sluggish collection. It recorded an overall 36.74% Hindi occupancy on Sunday. As per experts, the collections remain significantly lower than expected for a sequel.

Comparison with the first film

The original film that was released in 2015 became a hit upon its release, and in contrast, the original has a striking difference. The first part had a far stronger opening weekend, earning Rs 28.8 crore in its first three days. It collected Rs 10.20 crore on day one, Rs 8.60 crore on day two, and Rs 10 crore net on day three, as per Sacnilk.com.

About Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2

Directed by Anukalp Goswami, who has also written the film, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 stars Kapil Sharma in the lead. The film also features Hira Warina, Ayesha Khan, Tridha Choudhury, Manjot Singh, and Parul Gulati. It is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain, and Abbas Mustan.

The first film centres around Kumar Shiv Ram Kishan, played by Kapil Sharma, who is married to four women, and went on to become a box office success upon its release. While the sequel attempts to revive the same comic chaos, early box office trends suggest that audiences may be seeking fresher storytelling this time around.
