Influencer and actor Kusha Kapila has been vocal about the trolls and the negativity she has received following her divorce from Zorawar Singh Ahluwalia. The actress, who was seen in Thank You For Coming and Sukhee, revealed that she isolated herself from external opinions. However, her mother faced a lot of public scrutiny. Kusha explained that her mother, being part of her social circles, inevitably encountered conversations about the divorce. Speaking with Fever FM, Kusha discussed how society often treats women harshly during difficult times. She stated, “Society is unkind to women anyway, so that’s something my mother had to endure. I completely shut myself off from opinions because I didn’t have the emotional capacity for it. My mother, however, can speak more clearly about the experience.”
“She had to speak to relatives and speak to society. She has her own life — she goes to the temple or to the park, she has her own social communities where she had to face opinions and that is how the world works. This is the reality, this is the truth of where we live in and the times we live in. As much progress is happening and we hope for it to happen, somethings pretty much remain the same,” she added.
Kusha also revealed that she has realised she has no control over internet’s reactions on anything. “The other aspect of it is that, you can’t pick and choose what is going to happen to you online, especially if you have opened up your world and life to a lot of people. You can alter how you share your life now, going forward, realising the consequences of sharing your private life with people but I don’t think you get to pick and choose. It is unkind, it is unfair, that is there, assumptions will be made, people will speak on behalf of you and then you are like, ‘What do I give explanation for? These are a range of topics.’” the actress explained.
“So at some point, you have to pull back. You should realise that people around you should know your truth. The people you truly care for, the people who will be standing with you during your good times, your celebrations, your wins and losses, and hopefully down the line, who will be around your death bed, those are the people you care about,” Kapila concluded.
