Director Imtiaz Ali‘s latest romantic drama – Love Aaj Kal, failed to drag the audience to the theatres on day 4. The film fell flat at the Box Office on Tuesday and collected Rs 2.75 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that Love Aaj Kal ‘collapsed’ at the ticket window on its fourth day. His tweet read, “#LoveAajKal collapses on Day 4… The drastic fall in numbers doesn’t come as a surprise, since the trending was evident during its *opening weekend* itself… Fri 12.40 cr, Sat 8.01 cr, Sun 8.10 cr, Mon 2.75 cr. Total: ₹ 31.26 cr. #India biz.” (sic) Also Read - Love Aaj Kal Box Office Day 2: Film Falls Out of Love, Collects Rs 8.01 cr on Saturday

Love Aaj Kal emerged as the highest first-day grosser for Kartik but failed to collect from day 2. It collected Rs 27.86 crore in its opening weekend and became the third-highest first-weekend grosser on Kartik’s list of films, only behind Pati Patni Aur Woh – Rs 35.94 crore and Luka Chuppi – Rs 32.13 crore.

Love Aaj Kal received mixed reviews from the critics. In most of the reviews, director Imtiaz Ali was criticised for bringing the same old confused love story of his protagonists who are struggling to identify their emotions and to explore their relationship. The director followed the same pattern that he did in his 2009 film with the same name that featured Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. Both films showed romance across two generations. In the new Love Aaj Kal, the story is told through a couple set in 1990 and 2020 with Kartik playing dual roles – as Veer and Raghu.
