In a year dominated by high-octane action and star-studded spectacles, an unexpected contender quietly entered the cinematic arena. With no major stars, minimal pre-release buzz, and a modest budget, this film defied industry norms. As weeks passed, it transformed into a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences and critics alike.
Here we are talking about Saiyaara, a romantic drama directed by Mohit Suri, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Released in July 2025, Saiyaara narrates the poignant love story of Krish Kapoor, a budding musician, and Vaani Batra, a reserved writer. Their journey through love, ambition, and personal growth struck a chord with audiences, leading to an unprecedented box office performance.
The storyline of Saiyaara revolves around Krish Kapoor, a passionate and struggling musician, and Vaani Batra, a quiet, introverted writer. Set against the backdrop of urban Mumbai, the story follows their emotional journey as they meet by chance and slowly fall in love. While Krish dreams of making it big in the music world, Vaani battles the shadows of her past and a deep personal loss. Their bond strengthens through shared pain, creativity, and healing. However, fame, ambition, and unresolved trauma test their relationship, leading to a heart-wrenching decision that shapes their future.
As per trade website Sacnilk, Saiyaara has collected Rs 328.20 crore in India over 40 days. Globally, its total earnings have touched Rs 561.50 crore. Made on a modest budget of around Rs 45 crore, the film has delivered an impressive 1144% profit at the box office. Reports also suggest that after its theatrical run, Saiyaara is set to release on Netflix in September. Apart from lead stars, it features remarkable actors like Rajesh Kumar, Geeta Agarwal, Varun Badola, Alam Khan and Shad Randhawa in crucial roles.
Saiyaara is a surprising success story in a year dominated by big-budget action films. With no major stars and minimal hype, the film’s heartfelt tale of two souls finding love and hope against personal struggles resonated deeply with viewers.
