Madhuri Dixit is not just a Bollywood actress but has now become a brand in Hindi cinema. Dixit has been a part of several superhit films and has made a name for herself in the industry. While today, Madhuri is hailed as one of the biggest actresses in Hindi cinema, do you know that there was a time when she flatly refused to shoot a scene in Bapu’s movie, which also featured Ranjeet?
Yes, you read that right! The 1989 romantic drama Prem Pratigyaa, which starred Mithun Chakraborty, Madhuri Dixit, Vinod Mehra, Satish Kaushik, Aruna Irani, and Ranjeet in the leading roles, was a superhit. However, in one scene, which was supposed to be a molestation scene, Madhuri got frightened and ended up crying a lot. The revelation was made by Ranjeet.
During a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, the veteran actor said, “Prem Pratigyaa was the name of the film, Madhuri was new then. My image had been created as a ‘ruthless killer, crude villain.’ Girls and boys would fear me. Madhuri had heard about me, and she was panicking. We had a molestation scene together. Veeru Devgn was our fight master. The scene was that I had to molest her on a handcart. I was in a rush for my other shoot and had no idea about her situation on set. I came to know about Madhuri later.”
Revealing how Madhuri agreed to do the scene, Ranjeet said that he consoled her a lot and made her understand the situation. He further added that throughout the scene, he was extremely cooperative, giving Madhuri a safe space to perform. “After the scene was cut, people clapped. She was sobbing; the producer and others rushed to her and asked, ‘Are you okay?’ She said, ‘I never realised anything. He never even touched me,’” Ranjeet said.
