After waiting for a long while, finally the trailer of Ajay Devgn’s one of the most-anticipated films ‘Maidaan’ is out. On Thursday, the makers of the film shared the 2-minute 43-second trailer featured Ajay Devgn as the coach of the Indian Football team. Devgn pays tribute to Syed Abdul Rahim, who is well known for the modernisation of Indian football. The movie is helmed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, and the film delves into the golden era of Indian football spanning between 1952 and 1962.
The trailer of the film begins with Ajay’s voiceover where the actor can be seen saying “We aren’t the largest country, neither the richest. Half of the world doesn’t know us. Football can create our identity because the whole world plays football. So, India needs to focus on making a world-class team for the next 10 years.”
Then, the next we see Ajay working on strategies to find players from across the country in order to make a team who can play in any position. During the process of forming a team, including players recruited from India’s slums, he faces scrutiny for his selections. Despite challenges, Ajay perseveres with unwavering determination, encountering setbacks and vowing to quit coaching altogether should he fail at the Asian Games.

The vibe of the film is very similar to Shah Rukh Khan’s Chak De India, where a coach tries to make their nation proud by winning a competition. Previously, the makers of Maidaan released the teaser of the film which features Ajay Devgn’s character as he leads India on a groundbreaking journey in the world of football. The film will be released on June 23, 2024.
Meanwhile, the offficial synopsis describes Maidaan as “the true story of an unknown hero who created history and records for India such that even 60 years later, we are not able to match upto those accomplishments in the most played sport in the world, football”
