Kochi: Malayalam film director Joshiy’s house in Kochi was burgled, and the suspect has been arrested in Udippi, Karnataka. The stolen jewelry is estimated to be worth over Rs 1 crore. A report by On Manorama has confirmed the news. Scroll down to find more details.
Muhammad Irshad, who hails from Bihar, was captured upon his return from committing a robbery in Kochi. Upon discovering that the perpetrator had fled in a car registered in Maharashtra, the Kerala police provided the vehicle information to the Karnataka police, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
It is reported that gold and diamond jewellery was recovered from the burglar’s car in which he was escaping, Also media reports claim that the police authorities now confiscated the car, and it is now expected that the robber will be soon brought to Kochi to take legal actions against the theft. According to the reports of Manorama a police team has left for Udupi. It was confirmed that the burglar had arrived in Kochi in a car via Mumbai, now it is suspected that the accused had taken help from the locals to pull off a burglary in Joshiy’s house.
Veteran Malayalam director Joshiy became the victim of a burglary last night at his residence in Kochi’s Panampilly Nagar. According to PTI, CCTV footage captured a single thief entering the house around 1:30 am. Although Joshiy and his family were home at the time, the intruder managed to slip in through the kitchen and steal valuables.
Thieves broke into the residence of the director and stole a significant amount of valuable jewellery. The stolen items, which include diamond rings, earrings, gold chains, bangles, and watches, were reportedly stashed in a secure cupboard on the second floor. Police estimate the total value of the stolen goods to be around Rs 1 crore.
Joshiy’s Work Front
Malayalam cinema veteran Joshiy, whose career stretches back to the 1980s, has been active again in recent years after a short break. In 2019, he marked his return with the box office hit Porinju Mariam Jose, starring Joju George, Nyla Usha, and Chemban Vinod Jose. The film’s success even led to a Telugu remake titled Naa Saami Ranga.
Joshiy continued his directorial run in 2023 with the action drama Antony.
The film featured Joju George and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead, along with Chemban Vinod Jose, Nyla Usha, Asha Sharath, and Appani Sarath. The story revolves around a ruthless gangster entangled with a rival gang, leading to a violent confrontation. Looking ahead, Joshiy is directing the upcoming Mohanlal starrer Rambaan. Written by actor Chemban Vinod Jose, the film’s motion poster was revealed last year with an expected release in 2025.
