For the uninitiated, Shonali had last helmed the 2014 drama titled, Margarita with a Straw, starring Kalki Koechlin who won the Special Jury National Film Award for her character Laila , in the movie, who’s a teenager diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The story is based on the complex relationship she shares with a blind girl, essayed by Sayani Gupta, after she moves to America for her undergraduate education. The film not only premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival but also won several accolades. Mirror quoted a source in the know of the development as saying, “Priyanka has really liked the concept and will take the final decision soon. Meanwhile, the hunt for the leading man is underway and Shonali has also started work on the prep.” Shonali, on the other hand, was quoted as saying, “We are not sure of the cast yet, but I am doing a film with Ronnie and Sid. It’s an original script written by me and inspired by a true story.” Word is that PeeCee has also given her consent to the Salman Khan-starrer Bharat, which will be helmed by Tiger Zinda Hai and Sultan director, Ali Abbas Zafar.
